Romantic Chobe, Delta & Mozambique Island
Spend 15 days enjoying the best of both worlds: a classic big game safari in the wildlife-rich Botswana and a private island getaway off the dazzling tropical coast of Mozambique.
Kick off with a stay at an elegant lodge on the wooded escarpment overlooking the Chobe River – one of Africa’s top destinations for elephants – and then explore two different regions of the legendary Moremi Game Reserve and Okavango Delta by traditional canoe, motorboat and 4X4. The game viewing is excellent and the bird watching phenomenal.
After your time in the wilds of Botswana, be whisked away to an island on Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago to Azura Benguerra Resort to spend a blissful week on a secluded Indian Ocean paradise. Relax on pristine beaches, snorkel off untouched coral reefs, explore the uniquely African Island and surrounding archipelago, and enjoy the freshest seafood dishes and cocktails.
When you book this safari, you help Go2Africa support CLAWS vital work in protecting wildlife and local communities. Your booking contributes to funding a Mobile Cattle Boma and other essentials, which accommodates up to 600 cattle and is managed by eco-rangers to reduce human-wildlife conflict.

The staff was amazing. This room was our favorite and the bed was so huge and comfortable. The food was great. The game drives and boat rides were much more crowded here than in the other places. The landscapes were much drier also. We did get to see a very large group of lions sleeping, like 11 or 12! The Botswana Independence Day happened while we were there so there was a special BBQ on the lawn (we tried caterpillars!) and we had an interesting history lesson by the fire at night. We also had a fun boat ride on our last night on a larger boat (which had an upper deck) with lots of appetizers and drinks!
Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and catch a connecting flight to Kasane in Botswana as your exciting journey begins.
On arrival in Kasane you will be met and transferred by a short chartered flight to the Chobe River area. From here you will transfer by road to Chobe Chilwero Lodge, situated on the escarpment that looks out over the Chobe River and its sprawling floodplains.
Go on thrilling game drives and search for Chobe’s impressive herds of elephants – especially prolific between June and October – as well as healthy populations of buffalo and lion. The area is also home to many antelope species as well as giraffe, leopard, baboon and has an amazing bird count.
A motorboat ride on the Chobe River offers a different approach to game viewing and you are sure to see crocodiles, hippos plus one or two surprises.
During the heat of the day you can relax at the lodge, take a dip in the pool or get pampered with a wide range of professional spa treatments in the comfort of your own room.
Riverside retreat bordering Chobe National Park
Child-minding and complimentary Wi-Fi services
Twice-daily game drives or a sunset cruise
Spa with tree-top treatment room and complimentary foot massage
Fully Inclusive (All Meals, Selected Beverages)

It just kept getting better. The safaris in Botswana left me speechless. The animals were far more numerous in both Chobe and Okavango. Pretty much the same animals, but far more of them. Both lodges were very nice, and the people working there were wonderful, but a quick word about Sanctuary Baines in the Okavango Delta. Not surprisingly, there was no air conditioning, and the huts were blazing hot, (much like the heat you feel when you open your oven to smell the baked cookies that are about ready to eat)! We noticed that there was only one other younger couple staying there during our visit. They told us that there had been another party, but they insisted on a different place to stay ...
After breakfast catch your scheduled charter flight to Baines’ Camp, situated in a private Okavango Delta concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. Spend the following two nights in this eco-friendly camp enjoying an intimate and exclusive stay.
Your time here will be spent fully appreciating the world’s biggest inland delta: set out on 4X4 game drives to search for the region’s legendary wildlife; take guided nature walks for an insight into the environment’s fascinating details; and enjoy traditional canoe and motorboat trips for the chance to be steered through the watery, wildlife-filled channels.
Return to camp to drinks around the fire and then sit down in the evening for a delicious meal under the stars.
Located in a private concession, bordering Moremi Game Reserve
Excellent game viewing
Mobile beds allow you to sleep outside under the Milky Way
Utterly romantic - bathe under the stars by candle light in an outdoor 'star bath'
Explore the Okavango Delta by traditional mokoro and motorboat, depending on seasonal water levels
Fully Inclusive (All Meals, Selected Beverages)

We noticed that there was only one other younger couple staying there during our visit. They told us that there had been another party, but they insisted on a different place to stay as they could not handle the heat. Members of the staff brought us iced towels to wrap up in, which helped, but it was a difficult situation. The day we were leaving there I felt rather sick…could have been partially from the heat, or perhaps from drinking some bad water, or a residual effect of the Malerone (Malaria medication) that I had to stop taking due to a bad reaction in Cape Town, but again the staff brought to our hut some supplies, and really made an effort to make me feel comfortable. We greatly appreciated this. This is a wonderful location and facility, but it might not be quite right for the over-65 crowd during the hot weather season. Or, some portable free-standing air conditioners might be considered.
Chiefs Camp was amazing! Service was impeccable as were the accommodation and food. The guide we were assigned was outstanding in tracking and finding great sightings for us.
Today you will fly to Chief’s Island, the largest landmass within the Okavango Delta, and settle in at Chief’s Camp for the following two nights.
This area boasts a particular abundance of wildlife – especially animals that prefer a drier Okavango Delta environment. Go on game drives in search of predators like lion, cheetah, leopard and wild dog as they roam this diverse and always rewarding region.
The area is also home to the rare white rhino and is one of the only areas in Botswana where you can see this animal in its natural habitat. Enjoy morning, afternoon and evening game drives or go on a mokoro (canoe) trip along the Delta’s many channels.
Spend the hottest part of the day back at camp, relaxing beside the pool or indulging in one of many spa treatments while you look out over your beautiful surroundings.
