Rooms

Superior Chalet

The air-conditioned chalets at Londolozi Founders Camp are built along the banks of the Sand River in the shade of grand old trees.

The interiors have a classic safari design and feature cream and black fabrics, plush leather furniture and comfortable mahogany beds. Each chalet has an en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, a private veranda with a raised plunge pool, and excellent river views.

Other Room Types

For a superior safari experience, stay in one of the three Superior Suites. These more spacious accommodations boast a small lounge area with fireplace plus a private plunge pool for lazy afternoons.

Facilities

The camp's main area consists of a dining area with a relaxed bar area connected to a thatched game viewing deck and a riverside lounge sala affording excellent views of the river and your surroundings.

For lazy days in the hot African sun, you can lounge by the pool and have a cool drink in the adjacent boma.

You can even enjoy game and bird watching without leaving camp: simply head to the deck overlooking the river and sit with binoculars in hand.

Dining

Only natural organic and free-range ingredients are used to make the delicious safari meals at Founders Camp. You can enjoy your meals outside on the deck, around the fire in the traditional boma, or in the main thatched dining area. Of course, morning tea, coffee and biscuits on your morning game drive are a safari tradition as are sundowner drinks and snacks while out in the afternoon.

"Londolozi was wonderful. Our guide, Sandross was fantastic."

"Londolozi was amazing. The staff are part of the community and showed us their village - very nice! The ranger, Sandroz has been there for 25 years and we could not have had a better guide. He has a special understanding of the animals."

Londolozi is a different kettle of fish. The staff were all very young and good looking. We actually had a great time at Londolozi with the young staff and rangers. We were paired with a young couple from Singapore and had a blast. The last night, t he ranger and the other couple and other staff had dinner at our table and we drank and told jokes all night! So Londolozi is very nice, but more casual. The food was also OK. We saw a lot of game because we were able to get off the road, but the rain there was incredible too. I really liked it because they had camera equipment for rent there. Apparently they do lots of photography safari. They had a whole media centre where you could even get your prints worked on and printed on canvas for framing.

Londolozi Game reserve was unbelievable from the beautiful rooms to the welcoming staff to our guide Kate whose knowledge of the animals and love of both them and Africa was infectious. We took pictures that could grace the pages of National Geograph ic and each of us fell in love with the countryside and the people. I can truthfully say that the service we received in South Africa was second to none and having travelled all over the world to some wonderful places, that I think is really something for South Africa to be proud of.

"Londolozi was wonderful and remains my favorite game lodge. We had an outstanding guide, who was there during all of our stays at Londolozi. The weather cooperated on this portion of the trip and was beautiful."

It is almost unfair to even compare it to the other places we stayed. The room was grand, the staff clearly took pride in their jobs - from our wait staff to the managers - and our guide and tracker were wonderful men to spend time with. They went th e extra mile to find us wild dogs and a black rhino - the only animals we hadn't yet seen.

Londolozi was really the highlight of the trip. Food, rooms, service, and setting were all perfect. The game viewing was wonderful. We saw all of the big five, three different prides of lions (one with cubs), rhinos twice, multiple herds of elepha nts, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, jackals, etc. Our only regret was that we were only there three days.

Londolozi was exceptional. Callie, the manageress really went to a lot of effort on our behalf. We were upgraded to Tree Camp and put in an absolutely stunning villa. They could not have done more to make our stay any more memorable. That place kn ows how to treat customers and I am going to write a letter of thanks to them this weekend.

The properties were awesome, all of them. i cant really think of anything that was not great, it all went smoothly. I guess the only thing i would have done slightly differently is flying straight into Londolozi, which apparently has an airstrip (but they dont seem to advertise it for some reason) and the Londolozi was out of this world. Only wished we could have stayed longer.

"The place we liked most was Londolozi. The gastronomy was not at the same level as everywhere else in the country."

Our plane ride from Elephant Plains to Londolozi took 3 minutes. The pilot said it would have been a 1 hour drive. Londolozi is just as you said, "very special." The ranger and tracker were great. The food was delicious. The room was a little over-th e-top for being in the bush. It was truly stunning. They don't have any fences so the animals are free to roam the property.

Everything about Londolozi was perfect! The setting, the people, the animals....everything was wondeful. In particular, our tracker Freddy, ranger Helen and hostess Maggie were excellent. They all seemed guinuinely intersted in their work. Helen and Freddy would be just as excited as us when we spotted an animal. The game drives were beyond words. We saw so much! We would recommend this location to anyone without reservation. In fact, we hope to return in the future.

WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! We got upgraded into a Pioneer Camp Room because they were relatively empty, but used the Founders Camp public spaces. The room was absolutely beautiful, and we toured the entire camp and looked at rooms in each camp--all of them were just beautiful, even the cheaper Founders Camp rooms. The food was delicious, the managers and rangers were so friendly and lovely, and the game drives were fantastic. We saw the big five in the first day, and wild dog puppies, and cheetahs... everything we could want. I really think Londolozi may be my favorite place to stay in the world! We really had an amazing time.

It was absolutely fantastic! The staff were incredible--they made this a once in a lifetime experience. Oxide was our ranger, and with Eckson as our tracker, we saw all of the Big 5 in the first 2 days! Our butler Witness was so attentative to ever ything, whether we asked him out loud or just thought it in our heads. The food was lavish and tasty--I think we gained 5 pounds during those 3 days. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience.

It was an incredibly luxurious lodge, and definitely the highlight of the trip. The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and the drives were spectacular thanks to our very knowledgeable ranger and tracker. Everything about the place was special and we will for sure be returning.

In londolozi, it was also a good time, but we had a less interesting guide and a bad tracker; there were a too many people in the lodge and in the bush; however we saw a lot of animals, lions feeding on a zebra, leopard in the tree feeding on an impa la and the hyena waiting under the tree the meat falling down.

The bush school is probably the highlight for my kids - i would recommend making it a focal point of your sales pitch to families because aside from being great for the kids who would otherwise be bored in the middle of the day at a lodge it also giv es the parents a chance to chill.

"It was fantastic - nobody could have ANY complaints about the staff, location, facilities - all were brilliant - genuinely sad to leave and will DEFINITELY return."

Robin Himebauch

It was amazing. Room, food, driver/trackers, atmosphere, all exceptional. Really like the "small" Founders area. We only had 3 rooms being used (out of the four) while we were there so it felt like we were often by ourselves. The drives were grea t - all the big five and lots and lots of leopards. Plane flights were fine - especially liked the small craft (other than the heat) to and from Londolozi.
