Kruger Private Concessions

Within the Kruger National Park there are a number of private concessions. Similar in concept to the Kruger private reserves that lie on the park’s western boundary, these exclusive-use, unfenced concessions are set in prime Big 5 wilderness areas and deliver excellent crowd-free game viewing. Accommodation is limited to two or three luxury lodges per concession and includes several of the finest safari lodges in Southern Africa.

Guests staying at these lodges have access to the rest of the park and their ranger may take them into the Kruger itself for special sightings. However, the wealth of wildlife found within these Kruger concessions sees most visitors opting to enjoy the more intimate experiences they find in the concession. Moreover, private concessions offer guests safari activities not permitted in the Kruger Park such as spot-lit night drives, guided nature walks and off-road driving for close-up encounters.

Singita Private Concession

Located on the Kruger’s remote and mountainous eastern border with Mozambique and at the confluence of two rivers, the 15 000 hectare Singita Concession not only boasts perhaps the highest concentration of wildlife in the entire park but is also home to two extraordinary luxury lodges – Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni – that rank among Africa’s absolute top accommodations.

Imbali Private Concession

A 10 000 hectare concession in the heart of the Kruger National Park, Imbali is home to three lodges offering a classic Big 5 experience. One of them, Hamilton’s Tented Camp, is set in an area that boasts frequent leopard sightings.

Jock of the Bushveld Private Concession

Eponymously named after Sir James Percy FitzPatrick’s classic written account of life in the Kruger during the 1880s, this 6 000 hectare concession is set in the southern Kruger’s classic Big 5 country where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers meet. Home to only two lodges, guests can expect luxurious living, fine food, great service and stunning scenery.

Lukimbi Private Concession

Set in the southern Kruger and bordered by three rivers, Kruger’s largest private concession is a 15 000 hectare reserve that is home to the Big 5 as well as a wide variety of other classic animals such as cheetah, spotted hyena, zebra, giraffe, and hippo. There’s only a single lodge on the concession – Lukimbi Safari Lodge.

Tinga Private Concession

A 5 000 hectare concession within the game-rich southern Kruger, the Tinga Concession includes part of the Sand and Sabie rivers, the latter known for the highest density of leopards in Africa. Indeed, the predator density at Tinga is among the highest on the continent and includes lion, cheetah, spotted hyena and wild dog along with smaller carnivores.
