The Ilala Lodge was great and the location was perfect. It was a quick (5/10 minutes anywhere we needed to go) and we were able to walk into town for shopping. The Zambezi River cruise was one of my highlights of the entire trip. It was like being in a National Geographic movie. We had a herd of elephants leave an island and cross the river in front of us to the other shore.
After landing at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport, board a connecting flight to Victoria Falls International Airport. Your journey then begins with two nights at Ilala Lodge, a charming boutique lodge offering the perfect base to explore the Zimbabwean side of the world's largest uninterrupted waterfall.
When you visit Victoria Falls, a guided tour is a must. Take in the spectacular views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World while learning about the fascinating history and ecology. The fun continues with sundowners on the Zambezi Royal Sunset Cruise, a serene journey along the Zambezi River. As you wind down the waterway at slow pace, spot the wildlife frolicking in the river and soak in a breathtaking African sunset.

Camp Moremi offered the best animal encounters – a huge bull elephant charged us with trunk and trumping, a lion kill, hippos out of water and close up.

Xugana was a smaller lodge and more to our liking. Again, the accommodation was comfortable and had all we needed for our stay. The water safaris were a new experience for us and very enjoyable. The nature walk was a welcome change from sitting still for hours on trips out. On our last night, we were treated to a special dinner out on the lagoon with just ourselves and a member of staff serving food and drinks. It was a wonderful end to this leg of the holiday.
Your Okavango Delta safari continues with a scenic drive from one part of the region to the other. This marks the start of the final leg of your journey, which takes place at Xugana Island Lodge. Spend two nights at this tranquil water-based property, exploring the Delta's intricate waterways by mokoro (traditional canoe) and motorboat.
Guided nature walks on nearby islands provide intimate encounters with the region's flora and fauna. With its secluded setting and luxurious amenities, Xugana Island Lodge offers the perfect finale for your African adventure.
