For travellers who are comfortable being a little more independent, Welgelegen positions you very centrally for easy access to a number of eateries/bars/galleries along Kloof Street and beyond. A wonderful, warm and welcoming team on hand, the space itself creates a sense of homeliness owing to the fact that every space is slightly different with the rooms spread out across two buildings with an inner courtyard and pool between the two. Upon arrival in Cape Town, you'll be met by a driver for a private road transfer to your first three nights’ stay at the stylish bed and breakfast, Welgelegen House. Situated in the quiet Gardens suburb, this guesthouse offers the perfect base from which to explore top tourist attractions while enjoying the tranquillity of a quiet neighbourhood.

For a 20 tent camp it felt very intimate. The area is astonishingly beautiful and offers a true wilderness experience that I find somewhat lacking at other private reserves.
The following day, it’s back to the airport for a flight to Hoedspruit International Airport, where a driver awaits you for a short road transfer to Hoedspruit Civil Airport. From here, a charter flight will take you to your next four nights' stay in a private concession along South Africa's northeastern frontier, at the luxurious Pafuri Tented Camp.
What makes this Kruger experience unique is the camp’s leisurely approach to game safaris and its historical appreciation. Guided morning and afternoon game drives immerse you in the serenity of the wilderness. Time is well spent exploring the savanna with a scenic sunrise or sunset backdrop as you patiently wait for a shy leopard to approach. Stop over for an invigorating bush coffee with ample photo opportunities of lush green valleys inundated with kloofs, meandering rivers and green hilltops. The guides’ deep knowledge of the park's natural history, combined with its remote location, allows you to truly appreciate African wildlife.
When not exploring the bush, enjoy the camp’s private viewing deck where you can witness elephants majestically crossing the Luvuvhu River in herds. Relax on a chaise lounge next to the large swimming pool with select spirits and soft drinks. Meals are served al fresco on a large wooden deck, under the Jackalberry canopy, enveloped in its sweet aromas, before retiring to your luxurious quarters for a peaceful night's rest.
