Vic Falls, Delta & Hwange Safari
Journeying along a flowing watercourse, each of these destinations offers a rich display of biodiversity, from mammals and birds to plants and biomes. This trip combines three iconic natural landscapes into one unforgettable package: the mighty Victoria Falls, the vast Okavango Delta, and the largest nature reserve in Zimbabwe – Hwange National Park.
Begin at Linyanti Bush Camp, situated in Botswana’s little-known Linyanti Wetlands, where herds of elephants come to congregate at the water’s edge. Next up, set-off to Zambia for a stay at the Thorntree River Lodge elegantly situated along the water’s edge of the Zambezi River. This destination offers sublime sunset cruises, and just a stone's throw away from the iconic Victoria Falls.
Conclude your journey at the award-winning Somalisa Camp, situated along an ancient seasonal floodplain in the pride of Zimbabwe’s wildlife conservancy. An intimate and eco-friendly bushcamp stay is enhanced by the exceptional variety of landscapes that host the largest population of endangered African wild dogs.
This is an exclusive safari that will see you exploring Africa's wildest places, away from the hustle-and-bustle of crowds for private game drives, soothing spa treatments and classic safari living. Ideal for safari-goers seeking luxury accommodation blended with private concessions, and unforgettable aerial tours. Sustainability is the cornerstone of this itinerary offering some eco-friendly lodgings, alongside community development initiatives.
We had a great time in Botswana. The Linyanti Camp was amazing. The staff, manager and guide were exceptional. The food was delicious, well above our expectations, and the service was exemplary. I really cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed the camp and how great everyone was there.
Upon arrival at Maun Airport, you will be met for a small plane transfer to the Linyanti Airstrip, where a driver awaits for a bush drive to your first stop, Linyanti Bush Camp. Nestled in a private reserve on the border of Botswana’s famous Chobe National Park, a gateway to the vast Okavango Delta, the lodge offers an exclusive safari experience along the banks of the Linyanti Wetlands.
You have three nights here with the opportunity to embark on early morning game drives to witness the sunrise over the marshlands, bringing to life a flurry of avian and mammalian species that inhabit the dense woodlands. As a private concession, there'll be an opportunity to venture off-road for close sightings of big cats and the rare African wild dog. Your afternoons will be filled with delight on guided walking safaris, offering you the chance to truly immerse yourself in an authentic bush trek experience. Don't miss out on visits into Chobe National Park to experience the majesty of Botswana's life-giving Okavango Delta. Evenings can be spent on night drives, providing a nocturnal perspective of the natural activities of the reserve, or you can relax on your veranda for intimate sundowners overlooking the glistening floodplains.
Depending on the season, an experienced river guide will take you out onto the wetlands in a traditional mokoro canoe for an intimate and tranquil cruise along the waterways. Additionally, helicopter trips offer aerial views where you'll observe large populations of Kalahari elephants, as well as swathes of antelope prancing along the savannah.

Thorntree still offers exceptional service from a wonderful team, the trees have grown beautifully since I was last there for the opening to provide pools of shade and the riverfront views from the communal deck or your own suite provide a welcome respite after a busy safari, still one of my favourite lodges in Africa! We also spent a morning in Maunga Village, helping with the school feeding program and to paint the newly built ablutions & renovated classrooms which was such a privilege!
After delighting in a scrumptious breakfast, a game-drive transfer will take you to Linyanti Airstrip for a connecting flight to Kasane International Airport. Upon arrival in Zambia, you’ll be met by a driver for a road transfer to your next three-night stay at Thorntree River Lodge.
Tucked away in a private concession, the camp offers all the modern amenities of a hotel but set against the backdrop of wild savannah landscapes. The Mosi-Oa Tunya National Park is home to white rhino, as well as an abundance of wildebeest and elephants. You'll discover this, alongside a variety of avian species, on expert-led tracking expeditions and immersive nature walks. If the comfort of a private game vehicle is what you're looking for, then set out for a day's excursion exploring the vast landscapes, from woodlands to bushveld. Your children can also become explorers with an exclusive membership to the Ngwana Club.
The lodge's location along the banks of the Zambezi River offers tranquil canoeing experiences and romantic river cruises to explore the fullest extent of these waterways. Only 20 minutes away from Victoria Falls, affording guests easy access to one of the Seven Natural Wonders. Indulge in the sights, sounds, and smells of this breathtakingly dramatic waterfall. Its magnificence is exemplified by the thunderous roar of water cascading down the depth of the gorge, while a beautiful mist envelops your senses.

Both are great camps with Main having the luxury touch and lots of public space (plus a lovey plunge pool). Tented rooms at Main are large and very comfortable. Food, staff and service were all really great.
Game drives were excellent. Much more open scenery and a good amount of game, particularly elephants and lots of lions. We had the most wonderful experience of being stood in the middle of 100 plus elephants drinking our G&T's at sunset while they drank at the waterhole. Totally magical.
Flight transfers between camps were great. All very professional and all went as planned. The aircraft was a Cessna Caravan (12-seater) so very comfortable.
