Overview

Situated in the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, on the banks of the Ntungwe River, this intimate tented camp will allow you to truly experience the African wild. Ishasha Wilderness Camp is ideal for romantics looking for a peaceful stay, and is ideally situated as a base from which to explore the park.

Set out on game drives to search for the rare and famous tree-climbing lions, as well as the many other species found here. You can also enjoy excursions to Lake George's floodplains or to Kazinga village to meet a traditional medicine man and learn a little more about the local customs and culture. Bird watching will introduce you to some of the 610 species of birds, and the park is also believed to host one of the largest populations of hippo, so keep your eyes peeled for these river-loving creatures.

Rooms

En-Suite Tent

With only 10 canvas tents, you will enjoy a private and intimate stay at Ishasha. The spacious tents are designed in the East African Meru style and create a comfortable, relaxed home.

Tents can be fitted with either a double or two twin beds and overlook the beautiful Ntungwe River. The en suite bathrooms feature indoor showers and eco-friendly toilets. All tents are powered by solar energy to minimise the camp's impact on the environment.

Facilities

The bar overlooks the river and serves a wide range of local and international beverages. Hot beverages are available throughout the day on a self-serve basis. Do be sure to browse the boutique - it is one of the few in Uganda that accepts credit cards, so you can shop up a proverbial storm.

Dining

Enjoy your meals either in the central dining room, under a canvas roof or alfresco in the shaded outdoor area. All meals are made from fresh and locally-sourced ingredients to provide delicious and hearty meals.

"This camp was great and very similar to those we have visited in other parts of Africa. The location by the river was very nice and the tent was just perfect"
