Tena Tena
Located in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, Tena Tena is a tented safari bush camp overlooking a bend in the Luangwa River. The custom-made tents are sheltered by a grove of mahogany trees near to the Buca Buca Lagoon. Accommodating a maximum of 10 guests, Tena Tena assures an intimate and personalised stay.
The park hosts a wealth of African wildlife, including elephants, hippos and antelope, as well as 400 species of birds. Explore this remote reserve on guided walking safaris, and day and night game drives. For something more cultural, head to the nearby Kawaza village for the chance to learn more about the local way of life. Those wishing to relax in the camp can spend time at the thatched bar area that overlooks the river where animals and birds come to drink.

Tena Tena’s tents are well spaced to allow for utmost privacy. Each offers magical views of the Luangwa River and its wallowing hippos, especially from the verandas and comfortable sitting areas. The open-air bathrooms are en suite and beautifully designed to blend into nature through subtle colours, bold textures and patterns, and walls curved around trees, allowing you to enjoy a tranquil view of the surrounding landscape.
Tena Tena has a central thatched dining and bar area that offers a recreational space where guests can relax between game-viewing activities. There are laundry facilities to keep your safari outfits fresh throughout your stay, as well as battery charging stations so you're always ready to capture the perfect shot or stay connected.
Bar
The communal dining area at Tena Tena is made up of a thatched restaurant and bar. The restaurant is only partially covered, allowing guests to continue their experience of African nature while dining.
Breakfast features hot porridge, cereal, bread, fruit and tea/coffee to begin the day. Return to camp after the morning activity for a delicious brunch including a light selection of hot and cold dishes. Pre-dinner drinks are served around the campfire, after which a hearty dinner is served.

Luca’s birthday surprise was a champagne appetitive in front of the most amazing sunset we saw, shared with the staff and guests at Tena Tena. After that they baked a chocolate birthday cake that was a second surprise. Luca and I were deeply moved.
