Founded in 1999, the company’s philosophy – “Luxury, naturally” – is evident with the focus on providing its guests with adventurous safari experiences in luxurious surroundings. Sanctuary Retreat’s excellent guides have an intimate knowledge of the local environment and make ideal interpreters and safari companions.

Currently operating 13 lodges in prime game-viewing regions in Botswana, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania, as well as offering gorilla trekking in Uganda and private luxury camping in East Africa, Sanctuary Retreats has recently opened a luxury walking safari camp in Zambia’s South Luangwa, just one of a wide range of safari activities in the company portfolio. Other experiences include day and night game drives, motor boat and canoe excursions.

Sanctuary Retreats has a strong commitment to environmental conservation and responsible tourism. Local materials and skills are used to construct its lodges, built according to local architectural and cultural standards and limited to a maximum of fifteen cottages or tents as part of the commitment to low impact, high-quality tourism.
