Affordable Cape Town, Kruger & Vic Falls
Perfect for adventurous couples and fun-seeking families who like to explore at their own pace, this exciting journey takes in three of South Africa's best-known destinations. You will begin in Cape Town where the use of a rental car gives you the freedom to explore the aspects of the city that intrigue you most, whether it is a scenic drive to Cape Point, a trip to the beautiful Winelands or a day trip to see southern right whales in season (from about August).
No Southern African holiday is complete without a Big 5 safari experience, which you will enjoy in the world-famous Kruger National Park. This massive conservation area is known for excellent Big 5 sightings and your guides will try their utmost to seek out the lions, leopards and elephants that call this remarkable place home.
Your final destination is Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Here, your lodge is located within walking distance from the Falls, and the time is yours to enjoy all that the adventure capital of Africa has to offer! Try your hand at white-water rafting, bridge swinging, sunset cruises on the river and marvelling at the largest sheet on falling water on earth.
Your tour starts at Cape Town International Airport and ends at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, and all flights and transfers between these destinations are taken care of. Accommodation is comfortable throughout, with excellent service throughout.
For travellers who are comfortable being a little more independent, Welgelegen positions you very centrally for easy access to a number of eateries/bars/galleries along Kloof Street and beyond. A wonderful, warm and welcoming team on hand, the space itself creates a sense of homeliness owing to the fact that every space is slightly different with the rooms spread out across two buildings with an inner courtyard and pool between the two. The communal areas are generously spaced and comfortable. All round a wonderful and affordable option for time spent in Cape Town.
After touching down at Cape Town International Airport, meet your transfer driver at the arrivals terminal. Driving into the city, you will head to Gardens, a leafy neighbourhood at the foot of Table Mountain, where you will be spending four nights at Welgelegen House on a bed-and-breakfast basis. This comfortable guesthouse is centrally located within easy distance of restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. Its Victorian-era architecture offers insight into the country’s history, while modern, Afro-chic interiors hint at South Africa’s diverse cultural heritage.
Your time in Cape Town begins with a half-day city tour, including a cable car ride up Table Mountain (weather permitting), along with visits to some of the city's most important historical landmarks, such as the Company's Garden, St George's Cathedral and the Castle of Good Hope. Once you've explored the city, the following day is spent taking in the spectacular scenery and well-known highlights of the Cape Peninsula. Expect classic Cape Town sights including the Boulders Beach penguin colony, Chapman's Peak, Cape Point, Camps Bay, Clifton, Hout Bay, Simon's Town and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
The next day takes you a little further afield on a full-day Cape Winelands tour, where you'll enjoy tastings of excellent South African wines alongside views of rolling vineyards and beautiful Cape Dutch architecture.

Motswari was our absolute favorite and they really made a big deal about my birthday which was lovely and quite unexpected.
Bid farewell to Cape Town and head back to the airport for your flight to Hoedspruit – your gateway to Kruger National Park. From Hoedspruit, a road transfer takes you to a private game reserve in Kruger where you will spend three nights in a safari bungalow at Motswari Game Lodge on a fully-inclusive basis. Here you can track the Big 5 on open 4×4 vehicles and enjoy life at a traditional South African safari lodge.
Your luxury bungalow overlooks a seasonal riverbed or unfenced bushveld wilderness. It is fully serviced and is equipped with a king-sized bed, large deck and an en suite bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
In between leisurely meals and your morning and evening game drives, there is plenty to enjoy at the lodge. Select your favourite beverage from the bar to enjoy and relax with after a long day in the bush, taking in the beautiful surroundings and sharing stories. Soak up the African sun beside the pool and escape the heat of the day with a refreshing dip. After cooling off, consider booking an in-room massage for further relaxation.

The Ilala Lodge was great and the location was perfect. It was a quick (5/10 minutes anywhere we needed to go) and we were able to walk into town for shopping. The Zambezi River cruise was one of my highlights of the entire trip. It was like being in a National Geographic movie. We had a herd of elephants leave an island and cross the river in front of us to the other shore.
In the morning, after a slightly earlier start, a private road transfer takes you to Nelspruit’s international airport for a flight to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe, with a short layover in Johannesburg. After touchdown, you will be met and transferred to Ilala Lodge, which is located just minutes from the mesmerising Victoria Falls. From Ilala you can clearly see the Fall’s spray billow above the horizon, and on foot you are just minutes from the entrance to this incredible natural phenomenon.
Ilala Lodge is a comfortable and charming safari-style lodge that has a lovely open restaurant and beautiful lawns. The national park borders the front of the property, so wildlife is often spotted grazing close by. Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River have a lot to offer: enjoy boat cruises, micro lighting, bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter rides and more.
