Overview

Three of Africa's most iconic destinations are on the itinerary of this very diverse, 13-day safari. Combine the peerless game-viewing experience of Kenya's Masai Mara with the thundering spectacle of Victoria Falls before ending in serene style in Africa's favourite city - Cape Town.

Your safari will begin in a private concession adjoining the western boundary of the Masai Mara; besides the excellent game viewing you will get the chance to interact with Maasai warriors and if you have timed your visit for between July and November, you will catch the Wildebeest Migration, too.

Your adventure then takes you to mighty Victoria Falls where you can do anything from white-water rafting down the Zambezi River to scenic flights over the spray. You then continue your safari in Cape Town with four nights at a quaint and comfortable boutique hotel in a vibrant city neighbourhood close to coffee shops, restaurants, landmarks and art galleries.

Day 1-2: Touch Down in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya
Detailed breakdown

Day 1-2: Touch Down in Nairobi | 1 Night

Up arrow
Nairobi, Kenya

The lush gardens of House of Waine are a welcome sight after your flight into Nairobi. A driver/guide will transport you from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to your accommodation, which is a large residence in the upscale neighbourhood of Karen.

Rooms are well appointed and cosy, and the staff will do all they can to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Depending on your schedule, there may be time to squeeze in a dip in the swimming pool or perhaps even pop into the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage or the Giraffe Centre. Karen is also renowned for its exciting shopping: Kazuri makes beads and pottery from clay dug out of the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Ocean Sole recycles flip-flops washed up on the shore into décor items, and Matbronze is a gallery filled with incredibly lifelike bronze sculptures of wildlife, birds and people.

Masai Mara, Kenya

After a night at House of Waine, you head off to the award-winning Porini Mara Camp. Situated in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, this non-seasonal camp affords a comfortable stay on the next leg of your safari adventure. Settle in and take stock of your new surroundings - if there is time, you could set out on your first game drive.

Spend the next two full days exploring the remarkable, game-rich Masai Mara National Reserve on exciting morning, afternoon and night game drives, as well as Maasai-led nature walks. On one of these days you could also choose to enjoy an optional hot-air balloon ride over the golden savannah of the Masai Mara, a wonderful way to watch the savannah come to life in the glow of dawn.

Day 6-10: Touch Down at Victoria Falls | 4 Nights

Up arrow
Zambia

Today you leave Nairobi, jetting out of the city for a flight to Livingstone in Zambia. On touching down in Livingstone, you will be met and driven to Thorntree River Lodge, which is situated in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.

Thorntree offers you the best of both worlds: the privacy of exclusive river frontage – complete with its own boat – and excellent proximity to Victoria Falls. After a day at the Falls, you can return to select a wine from Thorntree’s contemporary, temperature-controlled cellar, cool off in your private plunge pool or set out just before sunset for a sundowner cruise on Thorntree’s private boat.

On one of your four days here, you will be treated to a full-day tour of Victoria Falls with an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will explain everything there is to know about Africa’s greatest waterfall.

Day 10-13: Experience the Mother City | 4 Nights

Up arrow
Cape Town, Cape Town Central, South Africa

The last leg of your adventure will be spent in the beautiful, vibrant city of Cape Town with four nights at the world-class Cape Cadogan, located in the popular Gardens neighbourhood. You fly into the Mother City directly from Victoria Falls to make the most of your time here. Cape Cadogan is an exclusive boutique hotel that offers a haven of peace and tranquillity while still being close to the city centre, V&A Waterfront and popular beaches like Camps Bay and Clifton.

Cape Town has a wealth of attractions to discover: hike or take the cable car up Table Mountain and enjoy spectacular panoramic views; visit one of the popular city beaches at Camps Bay or Clifton; stroll around the extraordinary Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens; and take a tour around the Cape Peninsula, making sure to stop in at the endangered African penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

One day in Cape Town will see you enjoying a private full-day tour of the Cape Winelands and Peninsula where you encounter breath-taking scenery and world-class wines.
