Botswana & Livingstone Community & Wildlife Safari
This 10-day luxury community and wildlife safari takes you into two of Africa's premier destinations, Botswana and Zambia. Plus, every booking of this itinerary will include a contribution of two stationery packs that will be donated to the children at Maunga Primary School, as part of our Positive Impact initiative.
Kick off your trip in the private and community-run Khwai Concession at Khwai Leadwood. This is where you will enjoy front-row seats to some of the best wildlife encounters on the continent while relaxing in safari-style luxury. You will then move on to the Linyanti Concession at Linyanti Bush Camp, bordering the iconic Chobe National Park. Elephant, buffalo and Africa's big cats roam here in healthy numbers. You'll then spend your last couple of days at Victoria Falls in Zambia, taking in awe-inspiring views of this natural spectacle, as well as tracking rhino on bush walks and catching famous African sunrises or sunsets on a boat cruise.
Very nice lodge and room: only mosquito net, not closed window so very cold in the morning. Breakfast standing around the fire 👍 . Great contact with staff and between guests (16 guests for 25 staff). African evening with songs in their outside restaurant with all guests at the same table. Bush walk very interesting 👍. Mokoro experience so peaceful & nice because so different from a safari in jeep 👍
After landing at Maun Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative and board a charter flight that will take you to Khwai Leadwood for your first three nights. Set on the banks of the Khwai River, this area is celebrated for its incredible array of wildlife, and the lodge is elegantly designed in contemporary safari style. The river is the only thing that separates the iconic Moremi Game Reserve and this private concession.
This is an exclusive safari experience where you will spend your days on morning, afternoon, and night game drives, as well as on walking safaris and mokoro excursions (water level dependant). This is truly one of Botswana's most spectacular landscapes, which features vast grass plains, a patchwork of lagoons, shallow pans, and verdant woodland forests.
The Khwai Concession is completely community-run and you will have the opportunity to join Khwai village visits. Immersing yourself into the local community and their culture, you will be an active contributor to educational opportunities for the local school children at Khwai Pre-School.
Authentic safari camp in wildlife-rich Khwai Concession
Stunning views of the Khwai River
Night drives & walking safaris in Moremi Game Reserve
Mokoro (traditional canoe) safaris on the river (dependent on water levels)
Reliable sightings of hippos, elephants & lions

We had a great time in Botswana. The Linyanti Camp was amazing. The staff, manager and guide were exceptional. The food was delicious, well above our expectations, and the service was exemplary. I really cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed the camp and how great everyone was there.
After breakfast, you will be flown to Linyanti Bush Camp for your next three safari adventure nights. Linyanti Bush Camp borders the legendary Chobe National Park, on the banks of the Linyanti Marsh, and provides a sanctuary of luxury bush lodging. The camp is at the heart of a region that is frequented by large populations of elephant and buffalo as well as big cats and Africa's ‘Painted Wolf', wild dog.
When you aren't on game drives, walking safaris, or mokoro excursions, you will spend a day at the Kachikau Primary School Disability Unit and the Vuche Vuche Basket Weaving Project. The school accommodates students with disabilities from local communities and the basket weaving project is an initiative created to empower local women with entrepreneurial opportunities. This is a powerful cultural activity that will introduce you to the people of Africa and give you fascinating insights into the spirit of this vibrant continent.

Thorntree still offers exceptional service from a wonderful team, the trees have grown beautifully since I was last there for the opening to provide pools of shade and the riverfront views from the communal deck or your own suite provide a welcome respite after a busy safari, still one of my favourite lodges in Africa! We also spent a morning in Maunga Village, helping with the school feeding program and to paint the newly built ablutions & renovated classrooms which was such a privilege!
After an early breakfast, you will be charter flown to Kasane Airport and transferred to the last lodge on your community, conservation & wildlife journey. Thorntree River Lodge is in Zambia's Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. The lodge has an environmentally-conscious design and a palpable African feel, complete with private plunge pools and wooden decking that floats on the edge of the river – connecting water to land.
Here you will visit the ‘Smoke that Thunders', one of the world's widest waterfalls, track rhino on bush walks, revel in sunrise and sunset boat cruises, and visit the lively Maramba & Markuni markets. While staying at Thorntree River Lodge, you will also have the opportunity to visit the Maunga Clinic, a vital healthcare project as well as Maunga Primary School.
Excellent proximity to Zambian side Victoria Falls
Outdoor showers so you can truly immerse yourself in nature
Wonderful family of staff where every day is tailored to your needs
Sunset boat cruises, fishing and kayaking
Travel with a purpose and visit Maunga Village to see the positive impact made by Go2Africa and the African Bushcamps Foundation
