Muchenje Safari Lodge

Muchenje really made me feel like I was in Africa. Staff was great and guides were EXCEPTIONAL!!

Muchenje was the least rustic but the bathroom was great! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Being safari rookies, we oohed and aahed over everything.

Vehicles were never full and mostly it was just the two of us. Muchenje has a ‘no more than 6 people per safari vehicle’. Which means you will never get the middle seat – great!

Muchenge had high quality facilities with comfortable rooms/tents, good food, and attentive, helpful staff.

Perfectly located within the Chobe Forest reserve and overlooking the Chobe River, Muchenje Safari Lodge is an affordable lodge boasting great views and granting easy access to The Chobe National Park.

The room in Muchenje was also very beautiful (the views were the main highlights) but the property was a bit older…this made absolutely 0 difference though as we were not there to hang out in the room! The lodge was fantastic, just what you would imagine in Chobe, and the people were so lovely. The activities were perfect, and the small details (sundowners, great picnic lunches, campfire, etc) were great and appreciated. There were plenty of opportunities to see amazing wildlife and it was also an ideal place to relax and enjoy just being in the lodge.

Just a quick message to say thank you for putting together such a fabulous trip for us. It surpassed all of our expectations and we have memories that will stay with us always. To watch elephants swimming and playing in the water together is just one of the things I will never forget – just magical! I’m sure we’ll return again sometime and I’d be happy to use Go2Africa to arrange our next trip for us.

We’ve left Muchenje Safari Lodge and it was all excellent. It’s a great lodge and nice manager. Had a great time and saw a lot of animals/ birds.

Muchenje Safari Lodge was very friendly. We saw plenty of game life although it is a bit restricted because they mainly use Chobe National Park where you must stay on road. However we did a 15 hour game drive on our 2nd day there. Yes 15 hours!! The main part was the river trip that was mind blowing. I think that anyone taking a small chartered boat along the Chobe is in for a treat. Food there was adequate … and not a prob… We weren’t there for the food, but to see hungry animals!

The staff at both Simbambili and Muchenje were over-the-top good. The private birthday dinner for Lori at Simambili was very special, and the folks at Muchenje were very accommodating, even taking us on a private, final game drive our last morning before dropping us off at the Kasane airport.

I don’t think we were both quite ready for the views of Chobe National Park. We had the most amazing room in the Muchenje Safari Lodge. The photos seriously do not do the place justice. On our first game drive we had fantastic luck in seeing a pride of lions stalk and track a heard of buffalo – fortunately for the buffalo they managed to fend off the lions' attack. We had a couple of days here, we managed to see four out of the big five and had a great time, meeting nice people and lodge managers.

Muchenje Lodge was our favourite of the safaris, the unfenced open plains of Chobe and suroundings filled with wildlife were magnificent, as was the amazing scenery from the open lodge.

The lodge is strategically located near the Chobe and the view is stunning. The organization of the many activities has been just perfect and guides were very professional. The managers were able to create a nice family feeling gathering all together during meals.

It was stunning – the highlight of the holiday – we would recommend this place highly. The attentive hosts, very good food and memorable safaris. Lovely setting with beautiful views. Accommodation very good.
