Overview of Muchenje Safari Lodge
Set in a private concession in a rarely visited part of the Chobe River area, Muchenje Safari Lodge has views of the Chobe River and its teeming floodplains as far as the eye can see. This owner-run and managed lodge pays much attention to detail – from decor and accommodation to service and guiding – and you’re assured of an intimate and personalised safari experience. Morning, afternoon and even full-day game drives in open 4X4s provide an opportunity to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe and a wide range of classic African animals. Predators such as lion, leopard wild dog are often seen and the region is one of the most prolific birdwatching areas in Africa.
Night drives to see rare nocturnal creatures that remain hidden during the heat of the day are also offered. Don’t miss a river cruise past herds of elephants, hippo and other river life on the Chobe River, or one of Muchenje’s walking safaris in their private concession which allows you to explore the intricacies of the environment such as animal behaviour, plants, insects and big game up close. Muchenje Safari Lodge is committed to the upliftment of the local primary school which you can visit for a very rewarding cultural experience. Enquire in advance about items to bring for the school.

Unwind and relax, in your own private luxury
Muchenje features only 11 chalets, each with spacious en-suite facilities. Situated on the escarpment’s edge, all the chalets feature their own balcony and unique view of the Chobe River – each has been thoughtfully furnished and great care has been taken to create an elegant African ambience.
The main lodge of thatch, wood and stone incorporates light and spacious sitting areas, a bar area, dining area and fabulous viewing deck, all with magnificent views of the Chobe River environment.
The nearby swimming pool and pool deck offer similar, apparently never-ending vistas and you can take a reminder of your safari home with you from the lodge’s well-stocked curio shop.
Private balcony or deck
The delicious meals at Muchenje Safari Lodge are served in the lodge’s dining area looking out over the Chobe River. Enjoy a sundowner cocktail from the lodge bar as you watch the sun set over Africa, and then share your safari experiences and wildlife sightings of the day with other guests as you dine together in a fun and casual atmosphere.
